The project communication plan sets the standards for how and when communication takes place.

As the project manager, you want to set the tone for all communication concerning the project. This allows you to maintain control of the project and ensure all stakeholders receive the necessary information. The plan sets standards for how participants communicate, including email, meetings, phone calls, yammer, JIRA, wiki, etc.

This template is easy to use.  In a team meeting, explain the purpose the of communication plan and as a team decide and note the what will be communication, the audience, frequency, channels and communicators.  Considerations should be given for both internal team communication as well as external.
