The Project Management Working Group (PMWG) is a community of practice for anyone involved in Project Management at Penn State or who is interested in the topic.
This working group provides participants with a forum for discussing issues and challenges faced by project managers of technical and non-technical projects within the Penn State environment. Discussions include best practices and tools, promotion of project management culture in organizations, managing cross-functional groups, the introduction of new technologies, and meeting stakeholder expectations.
A constant goal of this group is to assist others in implementing project management in a more rigorous, meaningful, and timely manner than would otherwise be possible. Together this group delves into project management principles and approaches, uses real-life projects to demonstrate techniques and concepts, and shares tools and templates that are currently used today. Collaboration outside of monthly meetings is encouraged and fostered.
The PMWG meets monthly and uses a wiki, Listserv, and Yammer group to discuss issues throughout the year. Membership is open to anyone at Penn State who is interested in project management and related methodologies and skills.
